“Old” Glory

Here’s a flag I painted on a barn near Maryville TN. It’s the same distressed painting method I use for Rat Rod truck doors, so I’ve grouped it with them. I’ve employed a new method on this job; it’s based on the observation that a lower layer of paint will be protected by a top layer, which fades, then exposes the preserved lower layer. In this case, a sign painter would paint a large white square first, then red stripes over that, along with the blue area. So, if you look at the area where the red stripes are, you’ll see a more solid white there, than the white stripes themselves.
